This dream is very literal, not too much in the way of surrealism not until the end anyway. And you seem to remember so many details, that is a good sign. Clearly you have some anxieties about this dream but I don’t think there is anything out of the ordinary in it. Normally when I interpret dreams I go along with the narrative but I have decided to take a more holistic approach to yours simply because of the repetition of symbols and their meanings.

This dream deals with childhood and the theme of growing up and taking on adult responsibilities, it also contains symbols of control elements coming from your parents particularly. You make several references to toys such as the My Little Pony merchandise, when we see toys in our dreams it often symbolises childhood and the comfort that we felt as a child, they also represent a playful attitude to life and a need for security. Your need for comfort and more importantly guidance is echoed with the scene in the car. When you see yourself in the backseat of a car it symbolises the control that someone else has over you it can be negative or positive in connotation but in this case I think it is more about dependence, as though you have a dependence on your parents and particularly your father.

You may have a desire to learn, such as was demonstrated by the video you were supposedly watching, watching television or a film often symbolises the transferring of information in to the mind, consider whether you wanted to watch the video or whether you had been made to watch it that might give an indication as to your eagerness to learn. Remember that your mind is in control of what you are dreaming and just because you may not have realised you were watching it doesn’t mean the symbol didn’t mean something. Stairs are interesting, usually people dream of climbing a staircase or falling down one but either way stairs symbolise progress in your life so perhaps the fact you were sitting on them represented a feeling within you that you were not getting anywhere but remember the stairs were there so it was not as though you did not know they existed, you can see that there is an objective to achieve but perhaps you don’t feel as though you want to.

This feeling of conformity is also revealed through the taking of your regular seat in the car journey. On this journey you took you described a large road, I believe that might symbolise the enormity of the challenge you face and how significant it is to your life is made clear at this point. Also the abandoned church, beautiful imagery right there what could be simpler? Churches represent belief and value systems, not just any old beliefs but ones that are close to us and that are important to our way of living. The fact it was abandoned speaks volumes, so think about the way your life has changed, is your approach to life different now to the way it used to be? How have your opinions and beliefs altered as you have grown up?
